MATERNITY SESSION { IT'S A GIRL}

Sugar and spice and all thats's nice...that's what little girls are made of.    There is a true beauty in maternity.  It is an empowerment that only women can experience and it is a brief moment in time when our bodies can create something so remarkable and unmatched.   It is a time to embrace our bodies and the beautiful beings that we are.

We have all heard of the pregnancy glow that maternity brings. From the moment you see her you can see the glow, the softness and the polished look that my mom once told me about.

Here is a sneak peak at a great maternity session filled with fun, laughter and a really big belly...

NATURAL VS. HDR

So many different styles, so many different artists.  Photography is not black and white.   There are so many different styles: Portrait vs lifestyle photography, images right from the camera vs. images processed in camera raw, lightroom, photoshop.  Images that are softened vs. images that pop, Vintage vs. modern.

I guess we can say photography comes in every shape and size just like we do and it is up to each one of us to determine what type is more appealing to us.  I recently dabbed with HDR images.  I'm not sure what I think yet and it's certainly far off the spectrum of my traditional more natural shots that I soooo love.

So I ask natural ? Or HDR?

BABY ONNA | 3 MONTHS

Slugs and snails and puppy dog's tails.  That is what little boys are made of.....

There are a handful of people I meet with baby boys that are not hoping they could have "the girl" someday.  When I met the Onna family and talked about having more children they expressed how much they LOVE their boys.  If they had more children and could choose they would have a baseball team of boys.  Mommy of course would be the umpire.
I loved the dynamic of their family and yes I knew from the start that baby Onna was the boss!  Here is a sneak peak of their session:

WHO'S THE BOSS?

Should I lay on my belly? Do I just lay here? Or should mommy carry me?  Photo sessions with 3 month olds are unique.   Not nerdy  kid unique, more like it's time to realize who's boss unique.   I can sometimes relate to the dog whisperer.  At a photo session I listen for the babies needs, determine how they're feeling emotionally and let them tell me what they're most comfortable with and what would make them the happiest. I know it sounds a bit looney but those are the looney thoughts that are going through my head.   (And here people thought I had these amazingly artistic, creative thoughts in my mind all along).

The baby's in control.  They will tell me when they are ready, when they've had enough, and will give me an occasional smile I better be ready for when they think it's appropriate.  My charming jokes no longer work, my simulation of a crazy girl with a camera falling or the occasion bribe with a delicious blow pop have no use.

With that said they are the sweetest, most precious subjects to photograph.  They have filled out from their fragile, newborn stage and are now delicious little marshmallows that give you an occasional smile that melts your heart.

It is an understanding between baby and photographer.   Realize quickly who's the boss and you'll not only have a great time but will get great results.

Extended Family-Cutest flock

Girls stop running around and look at the camera,  grandma stand up straight, mom we're over here,  honey just a few more pictures....these are all the sweet sounds of an extended family session.  They are all so different but have the same sweet sounds.

I never know what I am going to hear next and often feel like a shepherd guiding my cute little flock from pasture to pasture.  We usually loose one or two to a good patch of grass or a passing squirrel but eventually everyone comes together and we have great time capturing their fun moments.  This is a sneak peak into one of the cutest flocks I have had the pleasure to work with:

Sisterly Love

Holding hands, giggling at their own silliness and hugging each other...what could be better?

These two precious sisters give a new meaning to sisterly love.  I just had to submit this picture to May's Hey Girl Iheart Faces photo challenge.  They have many more precious submissions you should check out.

Summer is almost here

It's another cloudy day in South Florida but still you can find fisherman fishing off the pier, tourists sunbathing in our beach y white sands and determined girls trying to capture a few images before the sky dispenses another down-pouring shower.

We worked fast and although we weren't able to stay for our planned sunset we had a great time with the little we were able to do.
